A Birds “i” View

Tech Jeff Tweeting, Chirping, and  Chiming in!!

We just wrapped a major video surveillance retro fit project. We installed 13 Chanel Vision cameras in and around our clients property.  Our intial layout for getting coverage of the front and rear points of entry gave us great camera positions, but we had two areas we wanted camera coverage, but we had no mounting surface.

So my trusty sidetech Pancho and I came up with the idea of installing 2 Cameras into a bird house. With the Bird House cameras, we could get a good view of the hidden front slope and street, and an unobstructed view of a front point of entry.

Our client loves the camera views, and the bird house!!  The Bird House Color Scheme even matches our clients house!!

So now our client has a birds eye view of the house and can check in on their camera system with either their iPhone, iPad, Droid or PC.

Dear Movie Watcher,

Great news!  Starting today at vudu.com, you can watch movies you’ve rented or purchased on VUDU directly from your browser.  Instantly watch movies from your computer, with no additional hardware or software downloads required.  You can also explore VUDU’s massive movie collection and buy or rent directly from the website. It’s the same great commercial-free experience you’re used to on your TV, now available on your computer!

So, when someone else in the family has claimed the big TV for the night, you’ve still got a place to watch what you want. Or, when you’re on the road, you can pick a can’t-go-wrong classic wherever you land and watch it right on your laptop.

You can also use your computer to browse & select the perfect movie, then watch it on your big-screen TV via a VUDU-enabled device, or even start watching in one place and finish in another.

A few things to note:

  • Due to restrictions by content providers, playback is limited to SD quality when viewed in a web browser. However, you can purchase a movie on the website for viewing in HD or HDX resolution on your TV.  Just make your purchase at vudu.com then access it from your My VUDU account on your VUDU-enabled device. We will also seamlessly playback movies you’ve purchased in HD or HDX in SD if accessed through your browser.
  • Browser based playback requires Adobe Flash Player installed (version 10.1 or later). You can download the latest version here:  http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

To give it a try, just come to www.vudu.com/movies, pick a flick, sign-in to your existing VUDU account and you’re ready to go. Then, enjoy VUDU (on your computer!) tonight.

February Projects

Tech Jeff Here:

Things have been pretty busy for us through the month of February. We’ve been wiring projects for the latest in Audio Video Technology. Crestron Systems, Home Media Rooms and we are finishing up another Motor Home Project. Yes, a Motor Home.

We’ll have pictures soon but the overall system on the Motor Home is going to allow our client to stream their iPad Music through their AV System. Who Needs and iPad Dock!? Using the Air Play technology and an Apple Air Port Express, we can accomplish this. So our client can relax by the camp fire, and pick and choose the music playing through their exterior speakers.

Oh, and did I mention that we put in a Generation 1 Apple TV, allowing our client to control the Apple TV from the camp fire using the Apple Remote App.

Media Room

As a small company, we strive to deliver the best customer service and develop relationships with our clients. This project is a prime example of our committment to our clients, and our clients committment to us.

We were contacted by one our of long term clients (we’ve done systems for this client since 2001) to design a media room for a Loft addition to their home. We worked with Doug Waters of The Loft Crafters, Inc. to ensure a smooth build and installation.

Our client requested a simple and easy to use system, with the multiple media source options.

The system we designed focused around a 52″ Samsung LCD. We chose an Onkyo Surround Receiver to route the audio and video from a Samsung Blu Ray Player (with streaming Netflix and Pandora and YouTube),a DirecTV Satellite Receiver (For the College Football Sports Packages) and a Cox Cable Box to the Samsung LCD.

For speakers, we installed Niles In-Ceiling Directional Speakers, While a URC MX-880 Universal Remote, provides control of the system.

The end result is as requested, a Simple to use surround sound system.

iPad and Airplay

Tech jeff here with information on a recently released iPad feature.

With the release of the new Apple iOS, you can now unleash the media in your iPad (Music, Video and Pictures), and stream to your television using the second generation Apple TV.
